About The Estate
Fattoria di Vegi is an elegant country estate and working winery in the heart of Chianti. Gathered around a historic villa and framed by vineyards and centuries-old olive groves, with a collection of restored farmhouses and the cantina at its centre, the estate unfolds at an unhurried pace, where heritage, comfort and a sense of effortless, understated luxury come naturally together.

It’s a place to slow down, connect, and live well

Our Story
Originally built as a medieval watchtower in the 12th century, the estate has witnessed hundreds of years of transformation. Later owned by the noble Squarcialupi family and used as a hunting lodge, it eventually became a working agricultural property before being lovingly restored by the Boomsma family in 2023. Today, Fattoria di Vegi blends its historic roots with a vision for thoughtful hospitality. There’s a natural stillness to life at Fattoria di Vegi. Days unfold at their own pace, slow mornings, long lunches, the quiet hum of the vines. It’s warm and unpretentious, with a sense of elegance that comes from restraint rather than formality. The atmosphere is easy, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the rhythms of the countryside.
The emblem of Fattoria di Vegi is drawn from the estate’s own history, inspired by an archival detail found etched into a stone lintel above one of the villa’s original entrances. This small symbol, once overlooked, became a quiet representation of everything the estate stands for: rootedness, craft, and timeless continuity. Reinterpreted with restraint and intention, the emblem reflects the architectural heritage of the property, a balance of strength and softness, symmetry and irregularity. It speaks not of branding, but of belonging: a mark that connects past and present, just as the estate itself bridges tradition and modern hospitality. Like everything at Vegi, it’s not loud, but it lasts.

Rooms & Suites
Fattoria di Vegi is more than a hotel, it is an agricultural estate with a long and layered history. What began as a 12th-century watchtower has evolved into a place where slow living and quiet luxury come together. Our grounds offer space to explore, space to connect, and space to be still. Wake to the sound of rustling olive trees. Walk to the Orto to see what’s growing that day. Wander the cypress-lined paths with a glass of wine in hand. Or take part in one of the many experiences that make time here unforgettable.

Eat & Drink
Our restaurant L’aia del Rosso, set in the estate’s old Cantina, serves a seasonal menu rooted in local ingredients, from breakfast on the terrace to dinner by candlelight. Guests can join relaxed cooking classes in the kitchen garden or take part in our guided wine tastings, exploring the estate’s Chianti Classico and small-batch selections straight from the cellar.

Art & Design
The interiors balance restraint and richness. Drawing inspiration from Italian Regency, the spaces feature bold color palettes, custom lighting, and a dialogue between antique and contemporary forms. Materials such as terracotta, glass, brass, and aged wood echo the estate’s heritage while creating moments of contrast and elegance. Through the cooperation of architect Francesco Maestrelli, interior architects from Studio Tricot, interior design agency 4Nero, and the owners Maurits & Marlies Boomsma each room and common areas have been carefully considered, not only to look beautiful, but to feel meaningful, lasting, and personal. Whether you're here for rest or exploration, there's something on and around the estate to match your pace.
